Washington, D.C. of counsel Jason R. Baron was recently interviewed by Francis Rose on Federal News Radio. During the interview, Jason discussed how e-mail, chat and text messages, including communications on private phones and mobile devices, may constitute federal records and must be managed in accordance with policies put in place by the National Archives and Records Administration.  He also discussed the growing use of "shadow IT" applications (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) by federal employees, and set out best practice guidelines for agencies for dealing with this new phenomenon in the workplace.
