Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP announced today that former Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey D. Perconte has joined the firm as a partner in the Chicago office.
Perconte joins the firm from the Chicago United States Attorney’s Office, where he was a member of the Financial Crimes and Special Prosecutions Section. During his six years at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Perconte tried seven jury trials and argued eight cases before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, including an en banc appeal. He also led and managed investigations into various federal offenses, including securities fraud, commodities fraud, insider trading, health care fraud, mail and wire fraud, RICO, corporate kickbacks, and embezzlement.
“We are delighted to welcome Jeff to the firm,” said Michael W. McTigue, Jr., chair of the firm’s Litigation Department. “He is an extremely talented lawyer and his enforcement and compliance experience will be of tremendous value to our clients doing business in some of the world’s most heavily regulated industries.”
Perconte joins an already deep roster of former federal prosecutors at Drinker Biddle’s national practice, including Daniel J. Collins, who joined the firm in February 2013, just two weeks after completing the successful prosecution of David Headley, convicted for his role in the November 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India.
“I look forward to working with Jeff again,” said Collins, who worked closely with Perconte at the U.S. Attorney’s Office. “He is an exceptional lawyer and colleague. I know his experience will be extremely valuable to our clients and to the firm.”
Perconte’s practice will focus on representing corporate and individual clients facing government inquiries, conducting internal investigations, advising clients on securities and commodities enforcement and compliance matters, and handling complex litigation and appeals.
