Chicago partner Dan Collins received the “Attorney General’s Director’s Award for Superior Performance” from Eric Holder at a ceremony at the Robert F. Kennedy Main Justice Building on September 10, 2014.

Dan was recognized for leading the investigation and prosecution of individuals involved in a plot to commit a large-scale terrorist attack in Denmark in which innocent employees of a newspaper were to be beheaded. The investigation thwarted the attack and also developed enough evidence to bring charges related to the 2008 Mumbai attacks which had killed approximately 166 individuals, including six Americans.

The investigation also led to the arrest and cooperation of terrorist operative David Headley, from whom the investigation obtained intelligence that was of significant value to national security efforts.
