Philadelphia partner Scott Coffina wrote an article for the The Legal Intelligencer, titled, “Obama Administration’s Disregard of the Hatch Act and What it Means.”

Scott notes that President Obama, when running for office, promised to clean up Washington with the “most sweeping ethics reform in history,” however “the administration seems to have fallen way short of its early political rhetoric.”

He outlines various incidences of the administration’s ethical digression, with a particular emphasis on violations of the Hatch Act.

He says that by repeated violations of the Hatch Act, the administration is sending the message that “government jobs exist to advance the interests of the party, not the public” and that this sentiment is exactly what the Act was passed in 1939 to combat.
