California’s largest legal newspaper, the Daily Journal, recognized Los Angeles Partners Kate Gold and David Raizman as two of California’s top Labor & Employment lawyers in a special edition released today.

The list provided profiles of the state’s 75 top lawyers in the Labor & Employment arena.

Kate was recognized for her recent success in handling a pregnancy discrimination claim brought by a former “Price is Right” model against the show’s producer, FremantleMedia North America Inc., and David was recognized for his role in defending the City of Los Angeles in a settlement over curb access for individuals with disabilities. Both also discussed the current state of labor & employment law and their roles in it.

“Employment law in California is high regulated and dynamic,” Kate told the paper, “and you have to be vigilant in keeping up with the law and think creatively on how to implement policies and procedures that don’t run afoul of rules that evolving every day.”

David, who began his career in Labor & Employment by doing pro bono work for the then-called Western Law Center for Disability Rights, said he sees his work as enhancing disability access.

“A big part of my job deals with compliance to keep clients out of litigation,” he said. “Even in litigation, lots of times we are talking about solutions that will enhance access. I’m not someone who sees the world in black and white, and I don’t see my job in black and white.”
