Albany partner Matt Amodeo was quoted in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in an article titled, “2 Health Systems Take Joint Approach.”

The article notes a partnership of Bellin Health-ThedaCare Healthcare Partners — two health systems and a physician network — that were among 32 organizations selected last month by the federal government to test a new model for paying doctors and hospitals.

The project will last for three years and will see participating organizations sharing in a portion of the cost savings if they can meet certain quality measures while providing care at a cost lower than projected.

The 32 organizations selected to test the new model were deemed "Pioneer Accountable Care Organizations." Matt, a partner in the Health Care Practice Group, explained, "It is kind of like the all-star league for ACOs."

To be selected, the systems had to have shown a commitment to improving the quality of care and meet other criteria. The also had to apply to participate in the model, one of the riskiest be tested under federal health care reform.
