CIGRE International Colloquium on the Evolution of Power System Planning
Overview
Washington, D.C., partner Chris Berendt participated in a panel at the CIGRE International Colloquium on November 3, 2016, in Philadelphia. CIGRE, the Council on Large Electric Systems, is an international non-profit association focused on promoting global collaboration with experts to improve electric power systems of today and tomorrow.
The Colloquium, sponsored by the CIGRE US National Committee and Electric Power Research lnstitute, focused on the role of reliability standards and grid codes in defining the technical connection conditions of generation equipment, distributed resource technologies, demand response technologies and storage technologies. Since generation remains connected for decades, it must support the stable operation of the grid not only today, but also in the very different system of the future.
The Colloquium immediately followed the CIGRE US National Committee Grid of the Future Symposium (GOTF).
