Washington, D.C. partner Joseph A. Rillotta was a panelist for “It’s a Small World After All: Evidence in Offshore Noncompliance Cases (Part II)” on October 1, 2016, as part of the ABA Tax Section’s 2016 Joint Fall CLE Meeting.

The panel continued the discussion of the government’s ability to use stolen or improperly obtained foreign records, such as the “Panama Papers,” in administrative or court proceedings. Panelists also discussed the government’s ability to obtain foreign asset information through legal means and addressed various defenses available to practitioners to prevent the government from either obtaining or using legally or illegally obtained evidence.
