On April 5, 2016, Drinker Biddle partners Michael J. Stortz, Meredith C. Slawe and Kathryn E. Deal were featured speakers at the 2016 PACE Conference & Expo in Orlando, FL, from April 2 to 6. The Professional Association for Customer Engagement (PACE), which is leading the appeal of the FCC’s Declaratory Ruling, is bringing together regulators, in-house attorneys, business people, customer service professionals, compliance officers and attorneys in private practice, to discuss the state of the law and strategies for defending TCPA and other privacy-related class action lawsuits.

Michael, Meredith and Kathryn explored biometrics as an emerging new wave of privacy litigation. Businesses in various industries are dedicating significant resources to developing and implementing biometric identification technology potential uses of the technology are vast. The advent of new technology to collect, store and use this information has given rise to heightened concerns about privacy and security.
