Washington, D.C., partner Laura Phillips served as a moderator at the Practising Law Institute’s 32nd Annual Institute on Telecommunications Policy & Regulation on Thursday, December 4.  Laura and Scott Weaver, Senior Public Policy Advisor at Wiley Rein, moderated the Congressional Staff Panel, “Hot Topics from a Capitol Hill Perspective,” which included senior staffers from the Senate Commerce Committee and the House Energy and Commerce Committee.  The panel discussed legislative highlights from 2014 and a preview of 2015 initiatives, such as net neutrality, privacy and data security and Internet governance.

The PLI conference provided attendees with an understanding of the hot button issues facing the telecommunications industry today, and addressed critical trends and the latest developments, including wireless, wireline telecommunications, broadband Internet, and international and privacy issues.
