Washington, D.C. of counsel Jason R. Baron participated in a Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law “Tech Talk” event on Tuesday November 11. The event, part of an ambitious new data law initiative focusing on technology and business, featured a screening of “The Decade of Discovery,” a documentary about the beginnings of electronic data discovery.
The gathering included a panel discussion highlighting three of the pioneers featured in the movie: Jason R. Baron (in his former role as Director of Litigation at the National Archives), U.S. District Court Judge Shira Scheindlin, U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge James Francis IV, and the filmmaker, attorney Joe Looby. The program was moderated by Patrick Burke, counsel at Reed Smith and the executive director of the Cardozo Data Law Initiative, on which Jason is also a board member.
Joe Looby praised the interviewees in the film, who saw a dysfunctional e-discovery process in the early 2000s and who each worked in their own ways to fix it.
