Washington, D.C. partner Bennett Borden participated in a panel at the ARMA Conference on October 29. Bennett's panel was titled, "Predictive Information Governance – Utilizing eDiscovery Technology for Proactive IG."
This session explored how predictive coding technology can be used to create highly accurate and consistent automated information governance (IG) solutions. In the e-discovery review process, predictive coding software uses a subset of example responsive documents to train the coding engine to find similar documents. The results are validated through sampling and other techniques, but the net result is that the right documents can potentially be found more quickly and cheaply. This same "train by example" iterative training process has been used to instruct an IG system to categorize gigantic unstructured data sets quickly and accurately.
