Jodie Curtis, Senior Government Relations Director from Drinker Biddle’s Lobbying and Advocacy Team, participated in a Google+ “Hangout” on global health issues on Tuesday, July 9, 2013.

The discussion, “Trop Med Conversations: Washington, DC Basics,” explored why it is important for tropical medicine researchers and clinicians to care about politics and policy. Jodie’s presentation focused on current issues on Capitol Hill related to tropical medicine and global health.

The event was sponsored by the American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH), a client of the Lobbying and Advocacy Team. ASTMH is a worldwide organization of scientists, clinicians, and program professionals whose mission is to promote global health through the prevention and control of infectious and other diseases that disproportionately afflict the global poor.
