White Collar partner Scott Coffina presented at DRI’s inaugural Government Enforcement and Corporate Compliance conference held June 27-29 in Washington, D.C.

Scott moderated “Upon Further Review–Breaking Down the SEC Whistleblower Program.”  The panel featured Sean McKessy, the Chief of the SEC’s Office of the Whistleblower, and Winifred M. Weitsen, a white collar partner at Venable LLP.  The panel discussed how the whistleblower program operates and how it has impacted companies’ internal compliance programs.  Sean McKessy discussed how his office handles complaints and interacts with the whistleblowers themselves, and the anti-retaliation provisions of the Dodd-Frank law that authorized the whistleblower program.

The conference also featured members of the government and in-house counsel as speakers.
