San Francisco partner Steven Selna presented at the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Spring Meeting in Seattle, Wash., on Wednesday, May 1.

The presentation, titled, “The Global Impact of Counterfeiting—A “Fake Problem with Real Consequences,” covered the economic, health and safety ramifications of this modern criminal enterprise.

Steve focused on the special cases presented by counterfeit pharmaceuticals and electronics and offered strategies for combating counterfeiting, including civil remedies, criminal penalties and prophylactic measures.

Steve and New York counsel Masa Noda co-wrote a paper on the topic, which was also available at the conference.
