New York counsel Masa Noda gave two presentations on U.S. trademark law in Kyoto and Tokyo, Japan, on April 8 and April 12, respectively.

The seminars, titled, “U.S. Trademark Law Seminar for In-House Practitioners,” were presented in conjunction with Soei Patent & Law Firm. The presentations discussed differences in U.S. and Japanese trademark laws, pitfalls to avoid in trademark prosecution and maintenance, pointers for Madrid Protocol filing, and new trademark protection to be introduced in Japan.

The Kyoto seminar was full capacity, with 40 corporations represented, and the Tokyo seminar was above capacity. The feedback from both seminars was very good and Masa will likely return next year to present on other aspects of U.S. trademark law.
