Washington D.C., partner T.J. Sullivan presented a special informational video for The Advisory Board Company titled, “An Overview of the Community Health Needs Assessment Requirement.”
In the video, T.J. explains the proposed regulations around community health needs assessment—a part of the Affordable Care Act. This requirement calls on tax-exempt hospitals to work with their communities to determine the population's health needs in their service areas.
T.J. discusses the Rule's status; the future of the proposed regulation; the associated penalties for noncompliance; and other requirements under Section 501(r). He emphasizes that hospitals should now be implementing their first Community Health Needs Assessments if they have not done so already.
