Berry III of Financial Services Navigant Consulting, Mary Nugent of the Maryland Department of Insurance, and Richard Zuckerman of SNR Denton, moderated a session at the Compliance & Ethics Forum for Life Insurers’ Unclaimed Property Summit, in New York on May 23, 2012.  The panel examined recent settlement agreements between life insurance companies and state regulators that require insurers to use the Social Security Death Master File as a reference tool to identify potential beneficiaries of unclaimed policy proceeds and annuity payments, and analyzed the impact upon insurer operations.
