Chicago partner Darren Cahr moderated a panel at the McCarthy Institute and Microsoft Corporation’s symposium in New York City, Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012.
The symposium, now in its third year, was titled “Trademark Law and its Challenges.” Darren’s panel, which addressed SOPA, PIPA and other efforts to curtail counterfeiting on the Internet, featured key players in the IP arena, including:
- Steve Crocker, the Chairman of ICANN (the organization that in charge of Internet)
- Justin Hughes, Professor, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law Yeshiva University. Senior Advisor to the Undersecretary of Commerce, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Department of Commerce
- David Franklyn, Professor and Director, USF School of Law McCarthy Institute for Intellectual Property and Technology Law
- Susan Freiwald, Professor of Law, University of San Francisco
The symposium was hosted by Time Warner and brought together brand owners, trademark lawyers, and public policymakers to face off on today’s most pressing issues in trademark law.
