Chicago partner Jesse Ruiz will speak to students of the University of Chicago Law School on Thursday, January 20, during the school’s upcoming Diversity Week. The talk is presented by the Latino Law Students Association in conjunction with the Black Law Students Association and OutLaw, the school’s organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and allied law students.

Jesse, a partner in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group and co-chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee, will speak on the topic, “Why is Diversity Important in Large Law Firms?” His talk will cover what makes diversity important to clients, how large law firms can continue to diversify, and his own experience of contributing to diversity in the workplace. Jesse, an alumnus of the University of Chicago, was invited to speak for his experience in the field of diversity, as well as for his success as a Latino lawyer who became a partner at a major firm while demonstrating continuous involvement in public interest activities both in and beyond the Hispanic community.
