Insurance Counsel Freddy Fonseca Joins Faegre Drinker in Los Angeles

Faegre Drinker announced today that Freddy Fonseca has joined the firm as insurance counsel in the Los Angeles office. Prior to joining the firm, Fonseca served in-house at a leading national insurance provider as the California managing attorney for the litigation division.

Fonseca will partner with clients to provide guidance in the insurance industry as they navigate complex litigation, regulatory, compliance and transactional matters. His in-house experience, combined with experience as a litigator in Los Angeles and Chicago, brings a uniquely informed perspective to develop strategic solutions for business needs.

“Freddy brings deep-rooted knowledge of the insurance industry from his in-house role,” said Stephen Serfass, leader of the firm’s insurance practice. “His extensive experience will support our insurance team in continuing to provide our clients with excellent service. We’re excited to have Freddy join us at Faegre Drinker.”

In Fonseca’s prior role, he led the company’s California litigation offices, guiding a team of attorneys to develop and execute long-term litigation and claim strategies. As the head of litigation for another insurance company’s internal third-party administrator, Fonseca managed hundreds of personal injury lawsuits and pre-litigation disputes across 16 states.

Prior to his in-house experiences, Fonseca spent nearly a decade with Los Angeles and Chicago-area law firms, representing clients in matters involving insurance, transportation and product liability.

Before embarking on his legal career, Freddy worked in the aviation industry as an F.A.A. licensed aircraft technician, specializing in maintenance of aircraft components for a major airline.

Fonseca earned his bachelor’s degree from Queens College and his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
