Beata K. Spuhler is an attorney with the Corporate and Securities Practice Group's Customs and Trade Team.  Beata regularly assists clients with all aspects of U.S. Customs law, such as classification, valuation and country of origin and marking issues, enforcement actions, determining eligibility under various free trade agreements and duty preference programs.

Beata has assisted clients with establishing import operations.  She has also conducted compliance reviews of existing customs practices, including the drafting of customs procedures and training company personnel on customs-related topics. 

Beata has assisted clients undergoing CBP focused assessments and penalty investigations.  She has a significant amount of experience in drafting prior disclosures, pre-penalty petitions, ruling requests on various issues and formal protests relating to the importation of merchandise into the United States.

Beata has also represented clients in antidumping matters before the Department of Commerce, Court of International Trade and Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and has a significant amount of experience with drafting and filing documentation related to antidumping litigation. 

In General.  Beata is admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the State Court of Illinois.  She earned her bachelor's degree in accounting, with honors, from DePaul University in 1996.  She earned her J.D. degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1999, where she completed a certificate program in international and comparative law and was a member of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition Team.  Beata is fluent in Polish.
