Brian C. Rupp is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group and head of the Electrical Patent Team. He specializes in patent litigation, procurement, licensing and technology development and collaboration.

Brian counsels clients regarding all aspects of patent issues, including patentability, infringement, validity, licensing, design-around and the right to use new technologies. He prosecutes and enforces patents and negotiates intellectual property and technology development agreements. He has significant experience in intellectual property matters dealing with electrical and electronic technologies and computer software.

From 1995 through 1998, he was on leave of absence from the firm while serving in Seoul, South Korea, as patent counsel for Samsung Display Devices (now Samsung SDI) and Samsung Aerospace Industries (now Samsung Techwin). In this capacity, he was the sole in-house attorney responsible for all intellectual property matters, including litigation, licensing, patent prosecution and protection of rights in technology collaboration relationships. Samsung SDI is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of display products, including color picture tubes, liquid crystal displays, and plasma display panels. Samsung Techwin manufactures digital cameras and precision manufacturing equipment.
