Drinker Biddle's website supports two types of searches – searches of specific portions of the site and searches of the all of the site's content. This guide explains special features and techniques for both types of searches.
Specific Searches
News
This search supports search of news articles. Searches may be limited by selecting one or more of the values listed for the Year, News Types and Practices fields. The Keyword field searches the title of all news articles and the body of news articles other than those in PDF format. Click on the first SEARCH button to run the search.
The value in the Keyword field is searched as an exact string, including any spaces or punctuation. It will match the phrase entered wherever it appears in a word or phrase. Do not use quotation marks or wild card search characters, such as * or ! in the Keyword field.
To search the body of news articles in PDF format, enter the search term in the “Search text of PDFs” field and click on the second SEARCH button to run the search. This search will match any of the listed words, whether or not as a phrase. To search for an exact phrase, enclose it in quotation marks. Do not use wild card search characters, such as * or ! in the search.
Lawyers
Search for lawyers using one or more of the specific items listed in the Office, Titles, Practice, Admissions or Schools fields. The Last Name and First Name field will match any names that begin with the search term.
Publications
Search for publications using one or more of the specific items listed in the Practices, Publication Types or Year Field. The Author field will match any last name that contains the search term. The Keyword field will search the Title, abstract and, in the case of publications not in PDF format, the body of the publication. Click on the first SEARCH button to run the search.

Events
Search for events using one or more of the specific items listed in the Year, Event Types or Practices Field. The Speaker field will match any last name that contains the search term. The Keyword field will search the Title, abstract, description and location of the event. Click on the SEARCH button to run the search.

Site Wide Search
Searches of all of the content of the website may be launched using either the search box that appears at the top of the screen throughout the site or by clicking on the Site Search link at the bottom of each page of the site. To use the search box, enter the search term within the white bordered box and click on the chevron (>>) icon to run the search.
To execute a search on the Site Search page, enter the search text in the box and click on the SEARCH button to run the search.
A search that includes one or more words without quotation marks or other search commands will search for any of them.
A search that includes a quoted phrase will search for the exact phrase, including punctuation.
A search in lower case will match any case. A search that includes uppercase will match case as typed.
